Plant sale promises to offer huge selection and variety of perennial plants, June 9-10.
May 21, 2007
The Fullerton Arboretum will be hosting a special “June Bloom” Perennial Plant Sale at The Potting Shed, located on the grounds of the Arboretum, June 9 & 10, 2007. For flower and garden enthusiasts, this Perennial Plant Sale promises to offer a huge selection and variety of perennial flowering plants, at the perfect time of the year for planting.
Look for Verbena bonariensis at this sale---this is the ultimate perennial for both experienced perennial border designers as well as beginning gardeners. The blue-purple, large marble-sized branched flower clusters are borne all summer on 30” tall stalks above the narrow see-through foliage. In good soils, you will find a few seedlings scattered around the garden making their own combinations.
Another favorite available this year is the Varigated Obedient Plant (Physostegia virginiana “Variegata’). The flowers on the Variegated Obedient Plant are pink/violet color and the foliage is beautiful, green and creamy white. A beautiful pink tint is added to the leaves just before it begins to bloom in August. Full sun or part shade.
