Free CSUF Conference Oct. 20 on Domestic Violence, Gender Issues
Opportunities for Advocacy and Social Change Discussed

Oct. 12, 2007 :: No. 64

What: The ninth annual Family Violence Prevention Conference — designed to challenge the audience’s perception of women and men, and how media messages are used to endorse violence in relationships — will be presented Oct. 20 at Cal State Fullerton. The event is free and open to the public.
Speakers:

Jean Kilbourne, author of “Can’t Buy My Love,” will present “The Naked Truth: Advertising’s Image of Women.”
Jackson Katz, author of “The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women and How Men Can Help,” will present “€Tough Guise: Violence, Media and the Crisis in Masculinity.”

When: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20
Where:

Portola Pavilion in Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Student Union
800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton

Sponsors: Cal State Fullerton Women’s Center, Soroptimist International, CSUF Joint Task Force on Domestic Violence, Western State University College of Law and CSUF’s University Police.
Registration: Registration is required and seating is limited. Free breakfast and lunch will be served. To register, call 657-278-3928.
