Six Business Leaders Join CSUF Business College’s Executive Council
Newcomers Include Emulex Exec Chairman and CSUF Graduates

June 15, 2007 :: No. 235

Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics has welcomed six new members to its Executive Council.

The new members are:
            Paul Folino, executive chairman of the board of directors of Emulex Corp. of Costa Mesa;
            Joe Cervantes, senior executive vice president of R.D. Olson Construction of Irvine;
            Craig Fulmer (B.A. business administration ’78), corporate relocation manager, American Relocation & Logistics of Santa Fe Springs;
            Rick Poole (B.A. business administration ’89), principal in charge of the Orange County Office/Irvine, Stonefield Josephson Inc.;
            Michael F. Whipple, president of M.F. Whipple & Associates of Laguna Niguel; and
            Michael Caruso (B.A. communications ’76), broker for Orange County Real Estate Services of Irvine.

Formed in 1972, the Executive Council for the College of Business and Economics serves as an advisory group of more than 70 business executives from firms in the region.

“Service on the Executive Council provides a way for the College of Business and Economics and the business community to work to enhance the education of the next generation of business leaders,” said Anil Puri, dean of the College of Business and Economics. “These leaders provide a wealth of experience and knowledge that helps our faculty and our students to achieve and succeed in their endeavors. We are grateful for their contributions."

The council’s mission is to provide advice to and assist the college in achieving its goals of academic excellence and community recognition. Participation includes offering advice and counsel on academic programs and activities, plus service on a variety of committees and subcommittees in support of students and academic programs.

Each year, the council supports the Dean’s Scholars Program — providing full, four-year scholarships to deserving business administration majors — as well as awards for outstanding students and a business faculty member. Executive Council members also serve as mentors to students and participate in the College of Business and Economics’ events.
