Titan WOW Welcomes New, Returning Students to Campus
Activities Offer Chance to Check Out Clubs, Organizations, Get Information

August 17, 2007 :: No. 20

What: Titan Weeks of Welcome (WOW) is scheduled during the first two weeks of the fall semester at Cal State Fullerton, where classes begin Saturday. Day and evening free events feature resource fairs, student organization receptions, a fitness expo, bowling, billiards and more.
When: Aug. 20-31
Why: “It’s a time when we welcome new and returning students back to campus so they can get connected or get reconnected with friends at the various events,” said Brett Robertson, New Student Programs coordinator. “Whether getting questions answered at information stations or finding out more about what CSUF has to offer at Discoverfest, students will have the opportunity to learn how they can make the most out of their college experience.”
Highlight: “Discoverfest” Aug. 29-30 is a major event of Titan WOW, featuring about 150 student organizations and campus services and more than 40 different campus departments. “It’s a fun, festive atmosphere with food and music,” Robertson said.

Monday, Aug. 20 and Tuesday, Aug. 21 — Information Stations, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Students can stop by for general information, directions and giveaways. Stations at four locations: McCarthy Hall, Pollak Library/Performing Arts walkway, College of Engineering and Computer Science and Nutwood Parking Structure.

Tuesday, Aug. 21 — Evening Services Fair, 4 to 7 p.m. between McCarthy Hall and University Hall, offering information about services for evening students.

Wednesday, Aug. 22 — International Coffee Break, 1 to 2 p.m. at Aloha Java, to meet and greet international students; Irvine Campus Snack Attack, 3:30 to 7 p.m., Irvine Campus center courtyard, featuring free snacks for students; evening students will be treated to coffee and cocoa in travel mugs from 6 to 8 p.m. in the walkways of McCarthy Hall, University Hall and Titan Student Union.

Thursday, Aug. 23 — Rec Fest, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and Cardio Studio Open House, 1:30-5:30 p.m., Kinesiology and Health Science Building walkway; Fall Fitness Fling, 5:30-9:30 p.m., Titan Gym, featuring a live DJ and giveaways during four hours of group exercise classes.

Wednesday, Aug. 29 and Thursday, Aug. 30 — Discoverfest, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Quad, features campus resources, clubs and organizations.

Thursday, Aug. 30  — Moonlight Madness, 6 to 9 p.m., Titan Student Union Underground, featuring free food, bowling and billiards.

• Sunday, Aug. 19, 3 to 6 p.m., African American Student Welcome
• Tuesday, Aug. 28, 3 to 5 p.m., Asian and Pacific Islander Community Welcome
Wednesday, Aug. 29, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Lavender Community Welcome
