Three University Police Officers Promoted
Local Residents Rise Through the Ranks at Cal State Fullerton

Three Cal State Fullerton police officers are wearing new badges denoting their recent promotions on the campus police force.
Lt. Alfredo Molina has moved up from sergeant to operations lieutenant, in charge of patrols and investigations. The Fullerton resident joined the Cal State Fullerton police force in 1978 after serving in Fresno County. A former field-training officer, he also serves as range master for University Police.
Sgt. John Bedell, a former corporal, is a Cal State Fullerton graduate (B.A. criminal justice ’95) who served as a community service officer for three years before becoming a police officer in 1997. The Fullerton resident serves on patrol and has been attached to the North Orange County Special Weapons and Tactics, a regional SWAT team that includes officers from the cities of Placentia, Fullerton, Brea, La Habra and La Palma.
Cpl. Thomas McKenzie, a Yorba Linda resident, has served with the campus police for nearly three years and has attended Fullerton College. He previously served with the Blythe Police Force.
Cal State Fullerton’s University Police, consisting of 24 sworn officers, operates with similar responsibilities and authorities as officers in municipal and county law enforcement. The agency has been accredited by the national Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. since 2004.
