Social Justice Summit, “Wake Up! Open Our Eyes to Injustice,” is dedicated to bringing students and community members together to promote social action and activism locally, nationally and globally. |
Who: |
Cal State Fullerton’s Students ACT (Students Advocating Civic Transformation), a project of the Volunteer & Service Center, is coordinating the summit. The third annual event, expected to draw more than 300 attendees, features workshops, guest speakers, a vegan lunch and resource fair. |
When: |
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 21 (Earth Day weekend) |
Where: |
Titan Student Union’s Portola Pavilion, Cal State Fullerton, 800 N. State College Blvd. Free parking is available in the State College Parking Structure. |
Cost: |
The summit is free and open to students from Cal State Fullerton and other colleges and universities, high school students and community members. Speaker: |
Sonali Kolhatkar, host of KPFK’s show “Uprising” and human rights and women’s rights advocate (9 a.m.); and Kate Bornstein, author, playwright and performance artist who focuses on gender, sexuality and suicide issues (4 p.m.) |
Additional: |
The event is a “Green Summit” aimed at encouraging participants to make everyday choices based on environmentally and socially conscious decisions. |
