Kennedy Center Honor Awarded to CSUF Theatre and Dance Faculty Member
Assistant professor Eve Himmelheber awarded Kennedy Center Medallian for her outstanding contributions to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

March 12, 2007 :: No. 142

Fullerton resident Eve Himmelheber, assistant professor of theatre and dance at Cal State Fullerton, was presented a Kennedy Center Medallion during the recent Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) regional festival held at Southern Utah University.

The medallion is awarded for outstanding contributions to the festival and is considered one of the great honors in theater education. Himmelheber, also a CSUF graduate (M.F.A. theatre arts ’95), has been involved with the festival since 1995, first as a regional circuit coordinator and executive board member. Throughout the years, she also has served as a respondent/adjudicator for the Midwest, Northwest, South and Southwest regions. Since 2004, she has been the Region VIII coordinator of the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship auditions.

Himmelheber has been teaching at Cal State Fullerton full time since 2004, having previously taught at the University of Arizona, Iowa State University, Cypress College and Rio Hondo College — in addition to part time at CSUF.

For more than a decade her career has included performances in more than 30 plays and musicals, as well as directing credits for more than 35 productions. As a student, Himmelheber was twice a national finalist for the KCACTF Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship.

Launched in 1969, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities that has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States.
