Competitions foster a hands-on, problem-solving approach to engineering and computer science and, often, how the two can be combined to achieve a common goal. In addition, many area employers come to make contact with students, with the purpose of recruiting them for jobs and internships. The event also provides an opportunity for students and faculty members to make direct contact with those in industry to hear what skills and expertise they seek.
