Census Shows Increase in Spring Students
Enrollment up close to 300 over last spring's numbers.

March 16, 2006

As evidenced in prior spring census figures, Cal State Fullerton is seeing more and more students attending spring classes.

The head count of 33,783 at census — six weeks after the start of the semester — reflects an increase of about 300 over the census of spring 2005 and a nearly 3,000 increase from the spring 2004 census figures. In fall 2005, the university counted a record 35,040 students at census.

The spring full-time equivalent student (FTES) count of 25,054 shows an increase of more than 400 over the prior spring count of 24,648.

One FTE equals 15 units of student course work and is the basis for allocating state funding to the campus.

This spring, 63 percent of the student population are enrolled in course work that totals 12 or more units.

In addition, 2,998 students are attending courses at the Cal State Fullerton Irvine Campus, including 1,115 enrolled only at that site. Of the total, 598 of the students at the Irvine Campus are new to the university.

The female majority decreased slightly from 59.7 in fall 2005 to 59 percent this spring.
