Obesity Conference Set for April 13
Center for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and Obesity Prevention will host "Obesity: Awareness and Beyond."

The Center for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and Obesity Prevention will present an April 13 community forum on "Obesity: Awareness and Beyond."

Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove) and Teresa Samaniego, public affairs director for KABC-TV, are among the speakers at the 1 to 3:30 p.m. public program in the Kinesiology and Health Science Building.

A discussion on childhood obesity in Orange County will be led by Dolores Barrett, director, Community Action Partnership of Orange County; America Bracho, executive director, Latino Health Access; Christopher E. Corliss, coordinator of health, fitness and physical education, Orange County Department of Education; Santa Ana Councilman Mike Garcia; Kenny Rogers, executive director, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; Barbara Shipnuck, director of public affairs, Kaiser Permanente, Orange County; and Kristen Thompson, director of community development, YMCA Orange County. Jeannie Kim-Han, of the university's director for the Center for Internships and Service Learning, will serve as moderator.
