With its eyes on the future, Cal State
Fullerton has negotiated a one-year lease renewal for the
CSUF Irvine
Campus, which currently serves about 3,000
students who live and work in south Orange County.
The
lease, signed with Lennar Corp. — the managing
partner in the entity that holds title to the land that was
formerly the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station— extends
operations at the university's branch campus through
June 2007. Currently, Lennar is only offering one-year leases.
"The
campus remains committed to working closely with the Lennar
Corp. and the city of Irvine in the development of the
Great Park" said Judith Anderson,
CSUF executive vice president. "We are proud to be
part of Irvine's
dynamic community, and we look forward to maintaining and
expanding our presence in south Orange County."
The
Irvine campus was established in fall 2002 to help Cal State
Fullerton fulfill its vision of ensuring affordable, accessible,
quality higher education to residents of Orange County.
"We remain close, collaborative
partners" said Anderson. "By working together, we can provide
benefits to students, faculty and staff, as well as the community at large."
