CSUF Is Fourth for Bachelor's
Degree To Hispanic Women
Eight California
universities are among the top 20 and Cal State Fullerton is
the highest ranked among them.
April 6, 2006
Cal State Fullerton is fourth in the nation
among the top 20 institutions for awarding bachelor’s
degrees to Hispanic women, according to a report published
in a recent issue of Hispanic Outlook
in Education.
The ranking
in the magazine’s Feb. 27 issue includes
institutions from Arizona, California, Florida, New Mexico,
New York and Texas. Eight California universities are among
the top 20 and Cal State Fullerton is the highest ranked
among them.
The figures complement a previously reported
ranking for the university — sixth in the nation for
the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to minority
students and fifth for those awarded to Hispanics. Cal State
Fullerton was the highest ranked overall among California
State University campuses in the June 2 Black Issues in Higher
Education’s
14th annual “Top 100 Degree Producers” report
on undergraduate degrees awarded to minorities.
Hispanic
Outlook based its report on 2004 data compiled by the National
Center for Education Statistics. Black Issues in Higher Education’s
ranking stemmed from 2003-04 data submitted by institutions
of higher education to the U.S. Department of Education.
Hispanics
constitute one-fourth of Cal State Fullerton’s
student population.
