What: |
"The Arab World and Islam," a colloquium
featuring Audrey Shabbas, founder and director of the
Berkeley-based AWAIR: Arab World and Islamic Resources,
is offered next week at Cal State Fullerton. The program — open
to the public free of charge — includes discussions
led by professors in the humanities and business. Colloquium
schedule follows. |

Titan Student Union's Portola Pavilion. Parking
is available on the northwest side of campus, off State
College Boulevard, in Lot A for $5 per vehicle. |

"We're living in a time where communication
and understanding of the Middle East is more important
than ever," said Janet Eyring, chair and professor
of modern languages and literatures. "I hope the
campus and Fullerton community will come out to learn
and share ideas." |
Background: |
A member of the National Council for the Social Studies,
Shabbas has served as a presidential appointee to the
council's Equity and Social Justice Committee and
as chair of the International Human Rights Education
Special Interest Group. She has been honored for her
work in promoting Arab American understanding. |
