and Computer Science is hosting its second annual “Professor
for a Day,” featuring more than 25 alumni and industry
leaders as guest lecturers. |

| Background: |
Professor for a Day is a two-day event in which
distinguished alumni and industry
leaders come to campus to guest lecture, talk with students,
and share a meal or coffee break with faculty members.
Guest lecturers also give students a personal look at
their success, provide inspiration and help them to envision
opportunities for their own careers, noted Dorota Huizinga,
associate dean of the College of Engineering and Computer
Science. “By sharing their industry experience
and expertise, guest professors also create an important
bridge in students’ education, furthering helping
the college strike the right balance between theory and
practice in their training.” |

Guest lecturers are from local companies, including
Boeing Co., Disneyland Resort, General Dynamics, Interstate
Electronics Corp., Northrop Grumman Integrated and
Southern California Edison. Visitors will lecturer
on such topics as foundation design, programming concepts,
software testing, electric circuits and global positioning
