                      | About the Author: | Waldie's book "Holy Land:  A Suburban Memoir," received the California Book Award for nonfiction in 1996.  In 2004, "Where We Are Now: Notes from Los Angeles"  was named one of the best books of the year by the Los Angeles Times Book Review. The author is a  contributing writer at Los Angeles  Magazine. He was included in the California Arts Council anthology "My  California" in 2004. Waldie has been the public information officer for the  city of Lakewood since 1978, and he lives in the  house his parents bought in Lakewood  in 1946. |
