Seven students at Cal State Fullerton
have been invited to screen their films as part of the "college
event" at
the Newport Beach Film Festival Saturday, April 22. The student
films will be screened from 2-4 p.m. at Edwards Island Cinemas
in Newport Beach.
Last year,
more than 30,000 people attended the 10-day event to view
films from the United States, Africa, Asia, Europe and South
America.
Cal State
Fullerton students who will be showing their films this year
are:
Victor Campos
of Corona screening "Man of Desperation," a
film about one man on the run for his life; Jeff Horn of Irvine exhibiting "Joe
Lies"; Brett Meyer of Long Beach screening "Picture
Perfect," focusing on the unachievable expectations
of beauty for women in American society; Orange residents
Anne Seidel showing "Bratja" and
Nathan Hayashiona screening "Vanish," about a
young man who makes one mistake ... and is literally
about to lose everything"; Aaron
Paetz of Riverside exhibiting his animated
short feature, "Freddy
the Teddy," about a caffeine-addicted teddy bear that
risks arm and leg for his morning "fix"; and
Rahim Jamel of Santa Monica screening "Letting
Go," a film that looks at life through "the eyes
of self destruction."
"We are pleased and excited
that our students' films were selected
by the Newport Beach Film Festival this year," said
Edward Fink, chair and associate professor of radio-TV-film. "I
think it's a credit
to our students' hard work and creativity. The festival
judges mentioned that they were impressed by the high quality
of our students' work."
