Tom Hayden, political activist, author and founding
member of Students for a Democratic Society, will be
the keynote speaker at Cal State Fullerton’s second
annual Social Justice Student Summit. Hayden served 18
years in the California Assembly and Senate, and chaired
committees on higher education, labor and the environment. |

Geared to inspire social activism and change, the summit
is being organized by the university’s Volunteer
and Service Center, and is expected to draw 250 students
and community members. |

Free and open to the public. Campus parking also is
free that day. |

Other activities will include workshops on such topics
as immigration, civil rights, military recruitment, the
prison industrial complex, fair trade and the women’s
movement. In commemoration of Earth Day, the event also
will promote environmental and social consciousness by
using recycled products and featuring vegetarian food
choices. |
