| Background: |
This California native, and Cal State Fullerton
emeritus faculty member received his Ph. D. in historical
musicology (Catholic church music) from the University
of California, Berkeley in 1970. Later he taught at
Smith College and California State Fullerton, where
he retired in 1992.
His
publications include Early Sixteenth-Century
Sacred Music From the Papal Chapel (1982)
and Eine archaisch-griechische Kultur auf der
Osterinsel (An archaic Greek culture on Easter Island,
1999, translated into modern Greek and published in
Athens, Greece in 2003). Recently he has completed
new critical editions (in full score) of Musorgskij’s
Russian operas, Sorochintsy Fair and Khovanshchina.
As
a concert pianist he has devoted himself to recent music by west-coast American
composers such as Paul Reale and Neil Raines, and presented a piano recital in
Prague, Czech Republic, and follows with this one in Meng Concert Hall. |
