‘Winter’s Tale’ to Be Presented at Theater Regional
Theatre and Dance Department's play selected to compete in Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

February 3, 2005

“The Winter’s Tale,” one of William Shakespeare’s last plays, and presented by the Theatre and Dance Department in December, has been selected to compete in this year’s Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival’s (KCACTF) regional festival Feb. 8-12 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Only nine schools were invited to bring a full production – out of approximately 200 plays submitted – to the festival. Directed by master of fine arts student Stephanie Routman, “The Winter’s Tale” will be judged by the KCACTF national team for consideration to participate at the national festival in Washington, D.C.

Routman also will direct in the 10-minute play festival, as will senior Ian Swanson, who will see his one-act play “Train to Ouroborous” performed. Senior David Wong will take part in a playwriting workshop of his play “Choices” and senior Stephen Wagner is attending the festival as a nominated director for “A Day in the Death of Joe Egg.”

Twenty-two students have been nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship. An additional 18 students have been nominated in the design categories of makeup, costume, lighting, scene, audio and property.

In all, 78 students will represent the campus during the regional.
