Vietnamese Community Forum Slated
Cal State Fullerton and CSU to host a forum with Vietnamese American community leaders to solidify partnerships and discuss how CSU can meet the needs of the community.

September 29, 2005

The California State University prides itself on its diversity and creation of programs that reach into and benefit special segments of the region.

On Oct. 5, Cal State Fullerton and the CSU will host a forum in Garden Grove with leaders of the Vietnamese American community to solidify partnerships and discuss how the CSU currently serves and can further meet the needs of this growing segment of California’s population.

Assemblyman Van Tran (R-Garden Grove) will be the keynote speaker. He will be joined by CSU Chancellor Charles B. Reed and Cal State Fullerton President Milton A. Gordon. In addition, a panel discussion will be held featuring CSUF alumnus Hai Phan, president and CEO of Dexteus; CSUF alumna Trangdai Tranguyen, founding director of the Vietnamese American Project at the Center for Oral & Public History and a 2004-05 Fulbright scholar; KimOanh Nguyen-Lam, board member of the Garden Grove Unified School District; Co Pham, president of the Vietnamese American Chamber in Commerce of Orange County; and De Tran, publisher of the Viet Mercury. Tracy Bui, news anchor for KSCI, will serve as moderator.

The program is one of several CSU events designed to reach out to different ethnic communities throughout the state.
