More than 8,300 students – including 1,885 January graduates – are eligible to participate in Cal State Fullerton’s 46th annual commencement ceremonies May 28-29.

Keynote speakers for the universitywide celebrations will be NBC4 anchor-woman and Cal State Fullerton alumna Michele Ruiz (B.A. communications-radio/TV/film ’88), who will address attendees at the Saturday, May 28, ceremony, and State Sen. Dick Ackerman (R-Tustin), who will step to the podium on Sunday, May 29.

Ruiz, who joined NBC4 as a general assignment reporter in April 1998, currently co-anchors weekday editions of the “Channel 4 News” with Chuck Henry.

State Sen. Dick Ackerman, a former mayor and city councilman for the city of Fullerton, has represented Orange County in the state Legislature for 10 years.
Both celebrations will begin at 8 a.m. on the sports fields north of Titan Gymnasium. College and department celebrations will follow at various locations throughout campus.

An honors convocation to recognize student achievements will be held at 7 p.m. May 27 in the Titan Student Union’s Portola Pavilion.

Student achievement also will be recognized during a variety of special recognition ceremonies scheduled this month, including:
• Friday, May 13 - 6-8 p.m., inaugural Lavender Graduation, Portola Pavilion, Titan Student Union

• Saturday, May 14 - 5-10 p.m., 17th annual Chicano/Latino Graduate Recognition Ceremony, Portola Pavilion, Titan Student Union

• Sunday, May 15 - 5-8 p.m., sixth annual Pilipino Graduation, Portola Pavilion, Titan Student Union

• Friday, May 20 - 2:30-4:30 p.m., Graduation Celebration and Awards Ceremony for International Students, Portola Pavilion, Titan Student Union

• Friday, May 20 - 5 p.m., inaugural Credential Candidate Recognition Ceremonies, Engineering and Computer Science Lawn

• Saturday, May 21 - 2-4 p.m., third annual Asian Pacific Islander Graduate Recognition Ceremony, Portola Pavilion, Titan Student Union

• Sunday, May 22 - 5-8 p.m., 17th annual Pan African Student Recognition Ceremony, lawn west of Engineering Building

• Saturday, May 28 - 2 p.m., ROTC Commission Ceremony, Portola Pavilion, Titan Student Union
