October 26, 2005 :: No. 59

A groundbreaking celebration will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday (Oct. 28) on the site of Steven G. Mihaylo Hall, the future home of Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics.

Among the dignitaries to take part in the festivities will be the building’s namesake, Steven G. Mihaylo, founder and CEO of Phoenix-based Inter-Tel, a publicly traded provider of communications hardware, software and service. The 1969 business alumnus has given $4.5 million in pledges and contributions to the college.

Joining Mihaylo, CSUF President Milton A. Gordon and College of Business and Economics Dean Anil K. Puri, will be Emulex CEO Paul E. Folino, who launched the college’s $15 million campaign; Richard Muth, president of ORCO Block; Joseph R. Moderow (Class of ’70), retired senior counsel and vice president of UPS, Geoffrey S. Payne (Class of ’80), president of Tahiti Partners Real Estate Development, Dean M. Samsvick (Class of ’81), managing partner of KPMG, and Robert M. Taylor (Class of ’67 and ’73), president of the REMM Group.

The $79-million, 195,000-square-foot Mihaylo Hall will be constructed on the southeast side of campus between Langsdorf Hall and the Fullerton Marriott. Site preparation begins next month with construction scheduled in spring 2006. Completion is expected in 2008.

CSUF’s College of Business and Economics is home to the nation’s second largest accredited undergraduate business program and the largest such program in California in terms of enrollment.
