Several members of Cal State Fullerton’s Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda returned to campus this fall as national winners, having won several awards during the organization’s 2005 National Conference.

Senior Danielle Tolentino of Norwalk was named Phi Beta Lambda national president for 2005-06. A member of the organization since 1996, Tolentino is serving on the Future Business Leaders of America-PBL Board of Directors representing the postsecondary division.

During the June 29-July 2 conference in Orlando, Fla., first-place honors were awarded to Tolentino in word processing, to Steven Hsieh (B.A. business administration-finance ’05) of Roland Heights for finance, and to senior physics major Joseph Gazmen of Downey and sophomore business administration major Jaclyn Tuason of Santa Fe Springs for parliamentary procedure. Gazmen was named national parliamentarian for 2005-06.

The local chapter also won second place for its annual business report, and Cerritos resident Dianne Ramos, a senior studying international business, won second place in the category of future business executive. Fourth-place honors went to senior math major Justin Tolentino of Norwalk for C++ programming and to the team of senior computer science major Jason Ishibashi of La Mirada, senior electrical engineering major Christopher Tuason of Santa Fe Springs and Victor Chen, a business administration major from Orange, for Website development.

Approximately 2,000 students from 245 chapters and universities in 36 states competed during the leadership conference. Prior to attending the national event, the Cal State Fullerton team competed at the State Leadership Conference at UCLA, where the Titans were awarded the Sweepstakes prize for accumulating the most awards in competitive events.
