Cal State Fullerton is second in the nation for awarding bachelor’s degrees in business to Asian-Americans, according to a report in the June 2 issue of Black Issues in Higher Education.

The university also is recognized as fourth in the nation for awarding business degrees to all minorities and sixth for undergraduate business degrees awarded to Hispanics.

Cal State Fullerton is sixth for the overall number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to minority students and is the highest ranked among the CSU campuses in this category. The campus also was recognized as fifth in the nation and first in California for awarding undergraduate degrees in all categories to Hispanics, and 11th for undergraduate degrees awarded to Asian-Americans.

The rankings are part of the 14th annual “Top 100 Degree Producers” report and are based on 2003-04 data submitted by institutions of higher education to the U.S. Department of Education. In addition to the rankings, the publication reported that the number of minority students graduating from CSUF had grown by 12 percent over the previous reporting year.

In other academic programs, CSUF ranks:
• third in education degrees awarded to Asian-Americans;
• fourth in education degrees awarded to Hispanics and all minorities combined;
• seventh for ethnic studies degrees; and
• ninth for mathematics degrees awarded to Hispanics.
