‘Conference on Justice’ Symposium
Scheduled for Friday, May 6,
at Cal State Fullerton

Conference to feature keynote speaker Erwin Chemerinsky, constitutional law scholar and professor at Duke University School of Law.

A “Conference on Justice,” featuring keynote speaker Erwin Chemerinsky, constitutional law scholar and professor at Duke University School of Law, will be held Friday, May 6, at Cal State Fullerton.

Chemerinsky, who will discuss “Justice, Civil Liberties and the War on Terrorism,” argued two cases before the U.S. Supreme Court last month and was a commentator during the O.J. Simpson trial. He was named among the “Top 20 Legal Thinkers in America” in a recent Legal Affairs magazine poll. Chemerinsky will speak at 1 p.m.

Sponsored by Pi Sigma Alpha (the Political Science Honor Society), the Division of Political Science and Criminal Justice, Associated Students Inc., and the American Democracy Project, the conference will be held from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Ruby Gerontology Center.

Among the topics to be addressed: “The Philosophy of Justice”; “Justice, Crime and the Philosophy of Punishment”; “Genes, Food and Justice: Agricultural Biotechnology, Intellectual Property Law and U.S. Imperialism”; “Re-Engineering Humans, Revising Political Alignments”; and “Environmental Justice.”

In addition to Chemerinsky, speakers include many faculty members at Cal State Fullerton, as well as speakers from the Natural Resources Defense Council and the New School for Social Research.
