Four graduate students from William and Mary College
in Virginia who are traveling across the country presenting
sexual assault prevention programs for their peers will
visit Cal State Fullerton next month. |

| Background: |
Since August, the “One in Four” Peer Education
Team has traveled to college campuses and high schools
to present a series of talks aimed at generating a better
understanding of sexual assault and its psychological
effects. The program, named for the statistic that one
in four women will be a victim of sexual assault, is sponsored
by the National Organization of Men’s Outreach for
Rape Education (NO MORE). The team’s national tour
continues through June. |
| Who: |
In addition to the noon talk, the visiting students
also will be speaking before groups of student athletes
and residents of on-campus housing. The presentations
are sponsored by the university’s Women’s
Center, campus residence halls and the National Collegiate
Athletic Association. |

“This is all about prevention,” noted Susan
Leavy, Women’s Center community educator. “Our
goal is always to give our students information that will
help guide them throughout their lives. Even though we
have few such incidences on campus, it is important for
our students to know more about sexual assault and that
the university is providing them with opportunities to
learn how to be safe, how to better communicate, how to
be better aware.” |
