Background:

Since winning first prize at the Radio France International Competition in Paris, Pavel Steidl has become one of the most widely celebrated soloists of his generation. Born in the Czech Republic, Steidl has since been developing his own eminence as a guitarist. His highly expressive performances of rare 19th-century guitar literature on authentic instruments add a wonderful dimension to his already acclaimed performances. Also an admired composer, Steidl often performs his own compositions during concerts, as programmed at Fullerton. He has concertized in more than 30 countries from Canada, Cuba, Spain, Poland and Austria to Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, Australia, Japan and beyond.

“Steidl has an easy virtuosity, expressive sensitivity and a dramatic flair. Most of all, he plays with spontaneity, creating the feeling of improvisation…and a wonderful refined rhythmic sense… “-Rings, ARG
