January 10, 2005 :: No. 111.
Cal State Fullerton President Milton A. Gordon
is leading an 18-member delegation to Morocco through Jan. 15 to
explore the establishment of exchange agreements between universities
in both countries.
Gordon is serving his second year as chair of the
American Association of State Colleges and Universities Committee
on International Education, which helps member campuses respond
to the globalization of society and implications for those institutions,
its faculty, students and curricula.
Seven university presidents, plus AASCU’s
president and its director of international education, are making
the trip. Their schedule, beginning Monday, includes meetings with
Morocco’s ministers of national education, higher education
and scientific research, as well as campus visits in Casablanca,
Marrakech and Rabat.
As a regional university with a global outlook,
Cal State Fullerton has established international agreements with
45 colleges and universities throughout the world. The CSUF fall
2004 census tallied 1,465 international students representing 85
nations and 4 percent of the university’s student population.
