Walking/Cycling for Wellness
Campus Joins National Effort
April 16, 2012
Campus members are invited to participate in a four-week walking/cycling program coinciding with National Bike Month.
The monthlong program, kicking off April 19, is designed to encourage physical activity, including walking or cycling to campus. Teams of two may track their miles to be eligible for weekly prize drawings.
“We thought that this would be an exciting way to encourage members of the campus community to get out of their cars and do something that can improve the environment and their health,” said Joe Ferrer, director of parking and transportation services. “We hope that it is just the beginning of a program to better health and well being and for employees to consider walking or cycling as a way to commute to and from campus on an occasional basis.”
A program kick-off and orientation will be held at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the Becker Amphitheater.
To register or for more information, visit http://www.parking.fullerton.edu/walktowork. Teams that register by 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, will be entered into a drawing for pedometers and bike computers at the kick-off and orientation.
