Celebrating the Movies

Alumni, Faculty and Students Join in Awards Night Festivities

About 230 students, alumni, faculty and staff members and community guests came out to cheer on their favorites for best picture, actor and actress during the College of Communications’ second annual “Hollywood’s Biggest Night” event Feb. 26 at the UltraLuxe Cinemas at Anaheim Gardenwalk.

After walking the red carpet, guests enjoyed unlimited soft drinks and popcorn while participating in celebrity look-a-like competitions and movie and CSUF trivia contests before watching the live awards show on the “big screen.”

During one of the commercial breaks, the audience learned from the hosts that alumna Christina Lee Storm served as the production supervisor on the Oscar-winning film for best picture,“The Artist,” and also that alumnus Eric Dapkewicz (B.A. communications- radio/TV/film '93) was nominated for awards in editing and animation editing for his work on the Oscar-nominated feature “Puss in Boots.”

“This is a great event that brings the students, alumni and community together for an enjoyable evening” said Michael Karg, director of development for the College of Communications. “Our partner in this event, UltraLuxe Cinemas, provides a wonderful venue. Everyone has a lot of fun.”
