Faculty and Staff Retirees Honored

President Milton A. Gordon and campus administrators recognized faculty and staff members during a special May retirement dinner at El Dorado Ranch.

Among this year’s retirees is Mildred Donoghue, professor of elementary and bilingual education, who joined the campus in 1962. The 48-year veteran was involved in the development of the Elementary Education Department and is a noted author of the textbook “The Child and the English Arts.” 

Thanks to her generosity, the university opened the Donoghue Children’s Literature Center in the Pollak Library in spring 2001. She also has funded two scholarships, one to students pursuing a master’s degree in education with a concentration in elementary curriculum and instruction, and one to a continuing elementary education student pursuing a multiple subject credential.
