Insurance Executives Look at Future of Industry

A panel of insurance industry executives will take a critical look at the future of insurance, including key trends and challenges, Tuesday, April 19, at the 2011 “Insuring the Children Forum: Shaping the Future” sponsored by the Center for Insurance Studies and the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation. 

Panelists for the 1 to 2:30 p.m. campus discussion include:

  • Kenneth Cooley, principal consultant, State Senate Banking, Finance and Insurance Committee
  • James Morris, principal and CEO, Pacific Life Insurance
  • Davidson Pattiz, executive vice president, Zenith National Insurance Co.
  • Steve Scott, vice president and general manager, Anthem Blue Cross

Hank Watkins, president, Lloyd’s North America, will serve as moderator of the presentation; opening remarks will be provided by Anil Puri, dean of the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics. 

“We eagerly look forward to better understanding the opportunities, challenges and emerging trends that face our industry for 2011,” said Weili Lu, center director and professor of finance. “We are extremely pleased to welcome our distinguished panel. They bring great knowledge and insight to what lies ahead for our industry here in California and at the national level.” 

“The Insuring the Children Forum is one of the many programs offered by the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation,” said Bill Ross, chief executive officer of the foundation. “These industry-focused events unite insurance leaders for learning opportunities and contribute valuable funds to support the foundation’s local community grants program.” 

Cost to attend the forum is $100 per person and includes two continuing education (CE) credits; forum and lunch is $250 per person. A limited number of seats are available free for students and faculty members. The forum will be held in Room 1502 of Mihaylo Hall.
