Honor for Nursing Educator
Greenberg Selected American Academy of Nursing Fellow
Cindy Smith Greenberg, director of the School of Nursing, has been selected for fellowship into the American Academy of Nursing.
The academy serves the public and the nursing profession by advancing health policy and practice through the generation, synthesis and dissemination of nursing knowledge. Induction as a fellow is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a nurse. Selection criteria include evidence of significant contributions to nursing and health care. AAN fellows engage with other health care leaders inside and outside the Academy in transforming America's health care system.
“Being selected as one of a handful of nurses recognizes my contributions to the nursing profession and their impact in advancing nursing education and practice,” Greenberg said. “It is a great honor to be recognized as such by one's peers.”
Through 30 years of leadership in pediatric nursing, Greenberg has made seminal contributions to advancing nursing care of children through education of nurses and promotion of evidence-based nursing practice. She has written three pediatric nursing texts, two of which are actively revised and used in universities across the United States and as primary resources by practicing clinicians.
Greenberg serves on several editorial boards, including the Journal of Pediatric Nursing and the Journal of Professional Nursing. A member of the executive board of the California Association of Colleges of Nursing, Greenberg was recognized with the 2009 Excellence in Education Award from the Society of Pediatric Nurses.
