Planning for the Future

President Approves Strategic Plan

President Milton A. Gordon has approved a campuswide, integrated strategic plan that outlines five themes — academic excellence, student success, intellectual climate, human resources, technology and facilities, and capacity building — for planning for the university’s future.

Beginning in 2008, development of the document was guided by Michael C. Parker, interim director of university planning and emeritus chief information technology officer and professor of counseling. He initiated a series of forums to lay a foundation for the plan. A Strategic Planning Steering Committee was formed earlier this year to analyze feedback from campus constituents, compile information from Parker’s efforts, prepare a draft plan and made presentations to various groups.

“As we use this plan to identify and implement strategies over the next five years, I invite the campus community to study the meaningful themes and directions outlined,” said Gordon in his introduction. “These themes encompass Cal State Fullerton’s core values and define our path for the coming years.”
