Finance Professor, College Ranked in Top 50 Real Estate Articles
Michael LaCour-Little, professor of finance and director of Mihaylo College of Business and Economics’ Real Estate and Land Use Institute, has been ranked 17th in a top 50 listing of writers of real estate research in the February issue of the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics.
In a related ranking in the same issue, Mihaylo College ranked 18th in the world for number of research pages published between 1973-2008 and 12th in the United States for pages published during 1999-2008.
The rankings were part of “World Ranking of Real Estate Research: Recent Changes in School Competitiveness and Research Institutions,” an article written by Jang C. Jin and Eden S.H. Yu of the University of Hong Kong, who noted that while “real estate programs are ranked based upon page counts of articles published in three major real estate journals ... top-tier schools in real estate research are not necessarily the most famous schools in economics and finance; progressive universities specializing in real estate research hold the top ranks.”
LaCour-Little, who joined Cal State Fullerton in 2006, was ranked for authoring or co-authoring 178.78 pages published between 1973-2008. He is the only California State University faculty member in the listing and was ranked above researchers from such institutions as Yale, Louisiana State University and Cornell.
Among his most recent articles:
- “Parameter Stability and the Valuation of Mortgages and Mortgage-Backed Securities” co-authored with Yun W. Park and Richard K. Green and published in the fall 2011 issue of Real Estate Economics
- “Housing Tenure and Mortgage Choice” co-authored with Elaine Fortowsky, Eric Rosenblatt and Vincent Yao and published in the February 2011 issue of the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics
- “Pay Me Now or Pay Me Later: Alternative Mortgage Products and the Mortgage Crisis” co-authored with department associate Jing Yang and published in winter 2010 issue of Real Estate Economics
