‘Film as Collaborative Art’
Industry Veterans to Share Experiences
Screenwriters, producers and directors whose works have been enjoyed by audiences of all ages will be sharing their experiences as part of "Film as a Collaborative Art," a distinguished speaker series presented by the departments of Radio/TV/Film, Music and Art.
The series, funded by a President's Mission and Goals grant, launches Friday, Sept. 9, with "Finding the Idea, Passion and Pitching" with Keir Pearson, who co-wrote the screenplay for the 2005 film "Hotel Rwanda," an Academy Award-nominee that garnered the Writer's Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay and the 2005 Humanitas Prize. The lecture will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room 1303 of Mihaylo Hall.
Jim Jennewein and Scott Alexander, screenwriters, producers and directors of such films as "The Flintstones," "Stay Tuned," "People vs. Larry Flynt" and "Ed Wood" will discuss "Comedy in Film" Sept. 23. Jennewein will conduct an 11 a.m.-1 p.m. seminar in Room 1303 of Mihaylo Hall, followed by a 7-9 p.m. talk by the two filmmakers in the Recital Hall of the Clayes Performing Arts Center.
The third presentation of the series will include four-time Emmy Award-winner Michael Earl, a writer, director, musician and master puppeteer. Earl, who has worked on "The Muppet Show," "Sesame Street," "The Dark Crystal" and "Little Shop of Horrors," will discuss his work during an 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, presentation in the Clayes Recital Hall.
All three events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jule Selbo, associate professor of radio/TV/film, at 657-278-7167 or jselbo@fullerton.edu.
