Choreographers Art Reflected in Fall Dance Theatre

Student, faculty and guest artist choreographers explore themes of tribal passion, the cosmos, love and feminism through original works set to the music of Atomic Skunk, Philip Glass, the Beatles and Brian Wood during this year's Fall Dance Theatre, which opens Oct. 20.

Gladys Kares coordinates the 10-day production in the Little Theatre of the Clayes Performing Arts Center.

Among the eight dances that will be performed:

  • Faculty member Courtney Ozovek’s piece “Yes. Please. And thank you, Sir” follows three women on their personal journey.
  • Student choreographer Jennifer Montoya’s “Paradise Lost” is inspired by John Milton’s poem.
  • “Indigen,” choreographed by student Cassie Cole, tells a story of seven women who stand as a tribe deep in the forest and eventually turn on each other.
  • Guest artist Joshua Romero’s piece, “For Aurora,” focuses on the beauty of nature through the arctic wonder of the aurora borealis.

Performances of the Fall Dance Theatre are slated for 8 p.m. Oct. 20-22, 27-29 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 23 and 30.

General admission tickets are $11 ($10 with advance Titan Discount purchase for students, seniors or CSUF ID) and may be purchased at the Joseph Clayes III Performing Arts Center box office from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays - Fridays, and one hour prior to performance, or online.
