CSUF Media Arts Festival Call For Entries

The 21st annual CSU Media Arts Festival will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, on the Cal State Fullerton campus.

The festival was established in 1991 to give talented students studying film, video and interactive media within the 23-campus California State University system an opportunity to present their work for critical review.

Deadline to submit entries of short films and screenplays is Oct. 3. All interested CSU students are encouraged to participate. Entry forms, rules, qualifications, category definitions and submission requirements are available at www.mediaartsfestival.org.

Categories for submission are: Narrative, Animation, Music Video, Experimental, Documentary, Television, Interactive Media, Video Games, Short Screenplay and Feature Screenplay.

Entries meeting requirements will be viewed or read by a jury of media industry professionals to select the winners in each category and the winner of Best in Show. A free public screening and awards ceremony of the finalists, including cash prize winners and Place Awards, will be held in the evening in Mihaylo Hall. Festivities begin at 6 p.m.

Prizes for the festival are:

  • $1,000 and Rosebud Award to winner of Best in Show
  • $500 and Rosebud Award to winner in each category
  • $250 to the campus department of each winning entry
  • Place Awards will also be given in each category.
  • Audience Choice award selected at the festival's public screening.

Events on Nov. 12 will feature an industry mixer and keynote speaker in addition to the student finalist screening and award presentation ceremony.

The festival operates under the umbrella of CSU Summer Arts. This year’s festival is sponsored by Cal State Fullerton’s Department of Radio/TV/Film, and by the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics’ Entertainment and Tourism Management Program.
