Gender Issues Focus of Movie Series

‘Real Women, Real Men, Reel World’ Begins Tuesday

Tuesday movie nights are back this semester featuring theatrical releases that address contemporary gender issues. The Women’s Center is hosting the free “Real Women, Real Men, Reel World” series through December. The premiere program is the 2007 film “Evening,” a drama exploring the romantic past and emotional present of a woman and her daughters. The screening is Tuesday, Sept. 28.  

The movie series is intended to depict women and men in a variety of roles, both real and imagined. The films project them in such a way as to promote discussion on topics related to gender both historically and in today’s society. A wide variety of issues are featured, including culture, historical accomplishments, life challenges and healthy and unhealthy relationships.  

Movies are shown at 5 p.m. in Room 205 of University Hall. Students and faculty, staff and community members are welcome to attend. Free popcorn and snacks are served. For more information, call 657-278-3928.
