Over the past 11 years, faculty, staff and
emeriti have contributed more than $2.7 million to the “It’s
Our University” campaign in support of academic excellence
in various areas of the campus. During the 2002-03 drive, more than
565 members of the Cal State Fullerton family donated $476,000.
So far, this year’s efforts have brought in
more than $300,000 from 487 faculty, staff and emeriti – toward
a goal of $500,000 from 650 participants.
From the beginning, IOU has aimed at encouraging
campuswide investment in Cal State Fullerton’s future; an
opportunity to be part of the growth and development of Titan students,
according to Ira Unterman, director of development, annual campaigns.
Contributions can be made to a variety of areas –
more than 400 – making it possible to give to any area on
campus. Among the newer designees: the campus emergency preparedness
program, to provide supplemental funding for the acquisition of
equipment necessary during an emergency event; classroom refurbishment,
to provide technological and aesthetic improvements; and Tucker
Wildlife Sanctuary, to support the sanctuary and its activities.
A comprehensive list can be found on the campaign’s Web site:
www.fullerton.edu/supportCSUF/IOU.htm.
There’s still time to participate in this year’s
campaign. Large or small, every donation – through a one-time
gift or payroll deduction – counts and will make a difference,
notes Unterman. For more information, call 278-4180.
