Fall Preview Day to Include Focus
on
Community College Transfer Students
October 14, 2004 :: No. 58
A special invitation is being extended to
sophomores enrolled at community colleges throughout Southern California
to attend Cal State Fullerton’s Fall Preview Day Saturday,
Oct. 16.
Close to 1,000 visitors are expected at the annual
event that welcomes prospective students and their families to campus
each fall to meet faculty members, student leaders and staff members,
in order to get acquainted with the Titan campus community.
In addition to the campus tours, financial aid workshops
and how-to sessions the event typically offers, presentations targeted
to would-be transfer students have been scheduled for this year’s
9 a.m.-noon event in the campus Quad.
Saturday’s line-up includes a 10:05 a.m. panel
discussion among current transfer students about their own experiences
and campus life, followed by a 10:40 a.m. workshop on admissions
requirements for those considering transferring to the university.
“Our campus has always been popular with community
college students,” noted Ephraim Smith, vice president for
academic affairs. “Now, thanks to partial restoration of funding
previously cut by the state Legislature, we’re able to admit
more students for the spring semester. We’re inviting sophomores
who wish to transfer to Cal State Fullerton to apply now for classes
that begin Jan. 31.”
Sophomores currently enrolled at a community college
are eligible to apply. Applications to Cal State Fullerton are accepted
online at www.CSUmentor.edu.
