Computer Science Receives Major Software Gift

The Computer Science Depart-ment has received a major boost in the form of a gift of Automated Error Prevention software from Parasoft Corp. in Monrovia.

The software, which has a market value of $1.5 million, “will be of great value to the proposed master’s of software engineering online degree program to begin in fall 2004,” said Dorota M. Huizinga, acting associate dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science and professor of computer science.

“Parasoft Corp. is a firm be-liever in providing computer science students with the most comprehensive training on current software and methodologies,” said Adam Kolawa, Parasoft chief executive officer and a degree advisory board member.

“Our products and solutions are designed to help developers integrate best practices throughout the entire software develop- ment lifecycle,” he noted.

Parasoft develops and markets proprietary development tools and solutions to help companies eliminate and prevent software errors.

“Their gift fits our curriculum very well and also can be used in connection with other computer science courses,” said Huizinga.

“We certainly appreciate their donation and their support of higher education and the computer science program.”
