The Student Health and Counseling Center
at Cal State Fullerton has been reaccredited for a three-year term
— the highest level awarded — by the Accreditation Association
for Ambulatory Health Care. “Just 10 percent of student health
care centers nationwide are accredited,” noted Robert C. Aylmer,
the center’s acting executive director. The clinical staff
includes physicians, family nurse practitioners, nurses, health
educators, nutritional and health counselors, an athletic trainer
and physical therapist. Following the completion last August of
an 8,000-square-foot addition, the center opened a treatment facility
for physical therapy and sports rehabilitation, as well as a wing
for counseling and psychological services. More than 15,000 student
visits are logged annually at the center, which offers a wide range
of services in general medicine, gynecology, orthopedics, podiatry
and optometry. The center also has its own laboratory, X-ray facility
and pharmacy for the exclusive use of students.
