Applications for Admission to Cal
State Fullerton for Fall 2004 Will Be Accepted Beginning Oct. 1
August 4, 2003 :: No 12
Prospective university students intending
to apply for admission to Cal State Fullerton are urged to mark
their calendars for Oct. 1 — the start of the university’s
next application filing period.
The initial filing period that had been scheduled
to open today for prospective students eyeing Cal State Fullerton
for next spring has been canceled — a casualty of state budget
cuts. No new students will be admitted for the spring 2004 semester
that begins in January.
“While this is a setback for prospective
students, it allows us to preserve academic quality and the ability
for our current students to graduate in a timely manner,”
said Dr. Ephraim Smith, vice president for academic affairs at Cal
State Fullerton.
The filing period that opens Oct. 1 is for those
seeking admission to the university for the fall of 2004.
“Web-based applications are heartily
encouraged,” said Jim Blackburn, director of admissions and
records. “Prospective students who submit their applications
online will learn of their admission status much more quickly than
will those who submit a paper application,” he noted.
Those seeking admission may apply online beginning
Oct. 1 at www.csumentor.edu.
“Early application is encouraged, as
some categories may close earlier than others, due to limited resources,”
said Blackburn.
Meanwhile, incoming students who applied last year
for admission to CSUF and were accepted, will join returning students
Aug. 25 for the start of fall semester classes.
A record 32,143 students were enrolled for fall 2002;
an estimated 32,400 are expected this fall.
