2005: Year in Progress

Community members in West Fullerton discuss concerns and recommendations about their community with Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby, right, at a recent civic congress, “West Fullerton--Stories of Hope and Civic Renewal.” The meeting was the culminating event of a spring course, “Communication in Community Building and Civic Engagement,” in which students learned the role of civic engagement in local communities. They interviewed residents to discover some of the obstacles, the struggles that immigrant families face and what kinds of improvements could be beneficial to families and neighborhoods. Segments from the students’ video-taped interviews were included in a video screened at the July program.
