PERSPECTIVE ON DEMOCRACY
A half-day conference, “Perspectives on
Democracy,” served as the kick-off for Cal State Fullerton’s
role in the American Democracy Project, a nation-wide initiative
to encourage civic engagement among college students. Conference
speakers focused on various topics, including democracy at the grass
roots level and direct democracy in California. Speaking on the
role of media in the democratic process at one of the panel sessions
are, from left, moderator Jarret Lovell, assistant professor of
criminal justice; Nancy Snow, assistant professor of communications;
Gustavo Arellano, news and investigations editor for OC Weekly;
and Dennis Foley, team leader, government and politics, Orange County
Register.
