GETTING OUT THE VOTE
This month, students were presented with several
opportunities to learn more about the upcoming election and how
to get involved through CSUF Votes, a campus mobilization project.
As part of the university efforts, local elected officials spoke
to students and staff members during a presentation Oct. 14 in the
Titan Student Union. Participating in the event were, from left,
Scott R. Baugh, chair of the Republican Party of Orange County,
and state Sen. Joseph Dunn (D-Garden Grove), who met up with U.S.
Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove) as she prepared to speak on
“The Changing Face of Politics” at a Diversity Week
program sponsored by the Career Planning and Placement Center. On
the same day in the Quad, Freeman Davenport,a mechanical engineering
student, took part in a demonstration of E-Slate, the new voting
machine. Davenport, a first-time voter, was assisted by Orv Grossman
and Keith Gibson, volunteers with the Orange County Registrar of
Voters.
