CSUF Graduate to Deliver Keynote
At Biomedical Research Symposium

What: Margie T. Borra, a Cal State Fullerton alumna and doctoral candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry, will deliver the keynote address at CSUF’s 14th annual Minority Biomedical Research Student Symposium.
   
When: 1 p.m. Friday, April 23
   
Where: Portola Pavilion in the Titan Student Union
   
Topic: Borra will speak on “The Molecular Mechanism of Sir2 Deacetylases: the Kinetics of Aging.” She received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and master’s degree in chemistry at Cal State Fullerton and has been published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
   
More: About 30 students from the CSUF Minority Biomedical Research will discuss poster presentations of their research projects at 2:30 p.m. Student speakers Lamar Blackwell of Fullerton, Amy Bui of Fountain Valley, Ted Kidane of La Palma and Francesca Mendoza of Chino Hills will discuss student research efforts at 3:30 p.m. Christina Goode, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, and Christopher Meyer, associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry, will offer welcoming remarks at 12:50 p.m.
