Peter Camejo to Keynote Green
Party
General Assembly at Cal State Fullerton
December 3, 2003 :: No. 117
From Friday to Sunday, Dec. 5-7, the Campus
Greens at Cal State Fullerton will host the general assembly of
the Green Party of California. The Campus Greens is the
student group of Green Party members at Cal State Fullerton.
The keynote speaker for Saturday evening’s gathering
is Peter Camejo, a candidate for governor who received approximately
five percent of the vote during California’s recent recall
election.
His presentation is open to the public and scheduled
for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the university’s Titan Student Union.
Camejo will discuss the role of student participation in the election
process.
“We are very excited to be hosting this conference,”
said faculty adviser Jarret Lovell, assistant professor of criminal
justice. “The students will have the opportunity to work directly
with Green Party members and participate in the conference itself.
One of the priorities of the conference is for the California delegation,
including Cal State Fullerton students, to devise political strategy
for the 2004 Green Party presidential platform.”
Since its beginnings about a year ago, the Campus
Greens group has hosted a previous visit by Camejo and has invited
representatives from “Students Against Sweatshops” to
address students regarding hazardous work conditions and violations
of human rights.
Additional information on the conference or Camejo’s
appearance is available from Jarret Lovell at 657-278-2290 or
