Cal State Fullerton joins the Hispanic Chamber
of Commerce of Orange County in co-hosting the 5th Annual O.C.
Mariachi Festival, Becas Para Los Jóvenes, to raise scholarship
funds and donations for Hispanic youth in Orange County. |

Activities: |
Laura Diaz, KCBS-TV news anchor, will emcee the
festival, which will feature performances by top mariachi performers
and other entertainers, including: José Julián,
Melinda, Mariachi Imperial de México, Mariachi Tlaquepaque,
Ballet Folklorico Imagenes De México, Brianna, Maureen,
Mariachi Anacatlán, Rhythmo Mariachi Kids and Francisco
Cadena and Esteban Escobedo Floriadores. |

Background: |
The annual event supports the Future Scholars
program, which provides scholarship funds for first-time college
freshman that have disadvantaged backgrounds. |

“Cal State Fullerton had been looking
into beginning a similar event to raise money for scholarships,”
said Silas Abrego, associate vice president for student affairs.
“We are proud to join the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
of Orange County to co-host the festival this year and continue
to highlight this important aspect of Hispanic culture. The
festival features several nationally recognized mariachis
and it promises to be a very entertaining night.” |

Tickets range from $15-45 and are available
